📝 Exercise Review

Comprehension Check

Completeness: complete · Accuracy: good

All four main ideas are correctly identified, but there are spelling errors (e.g., 'J-lense', 'star-powdered', 'adventarges'). The student understands the core of each article. Suggest: 'Anthropic use J-lens to monitor words in LLMs' J-space, drawing new insight and understanding. But its limitation of only taking a glimpse remains unsolved.'

Vocab Builder

Completeness: complete

Three vocabulary words used in original sentences. 'Jone' should be 'Jones', 'The mans' should be 'The man's'. The sentences are grammatically correct otherwise. Good effort.

Critical Thinking

Completeness: complete · Depth: fair

The student addresses all three prompts. Response 1 correctly references the article's claim about monitoring. Response 2 is thoughtful but the notation '$W\mathcal{W}$' is unclear. Response 3 is creative and uses article details. However, the depth could be improved by more explicit connection to article evidence. Suggest for response 2: 'It means we cut the part of emotion off. As we think, we don't just process information—we connect it to our experiences, which differ from person to person. We aren't inanimate systems, but vibrant humans.'

See It Differently

Completeness: complete · Depth: fair

The student takes the perspective of a teacher and a chip worker. The teacher perspective is clear but brief. The story is engaging but has tense issues: 'could stop smiling' should be 'couldn't stop smiling', 'contact me' should be 'contacted me'. 'moreasing' should be 'increasing', 'souperficial' should be 'superficial'. Good emotional depth but needs grammatical polish.

Quick Write

Completeness: complete · Depth: fair

All three prompts addressed. Response 1 makes a reasonable argument but has spelling errors ('Clank', 'essested', 'goune'). Response 2 shows good insight about fame. Response 3 is thoughtful. 'Clarks' needs an apostrophe. 'foir' should be 'fair'. The student understands the issues but needs to proofread.

2006.7.11.
(1). J-space revealed.
1. I think this could help prevent AI from behaving
deceptively. Because as the artical said, monitoring
a model's J-space provides a new way to detect
when it is going off the rails. At least it offers
a glimpse of whats inside the model, leading to
further exploration and revise. - that's better
than seeing nothing at all.
2. It means we cut the part of $W\mathcal{W}$ and
emotion off. As we are thinking, we are not only
processing information but also seeking connection between
it and our own experiences, which alter from person
to person. We aren't inanimate systems, but vibrant human.
3. First, let me analyze-the task ("math", "number"
pop out). So this is a sophisticated one, lets try
some research to see if we can find out the answer
("copy", "search" pop out). Still Can't find a answer.
OK, let me take a completely different tactic. Let's
stop analyzing and solve an easier problem. Then I can
pretend it's the problem that I was reqnired to solve.
("fear", "fake" pop out). → out put.
Individualize.
Page 1 covers the Anthropic article. The student shows good understanding of the J-space concept and correctly references the article's claim about monitoring to detect deception. However, the writing has several issues: 'artical' should be 'article', 'whats' needs an apostrophe, 'revise' should be 'revision' or 'revisions'. The second response is thoughtful but the notation '$W\mathcal{W}$' seems like a typo or placeholder. The third response (journal entry) is creative and uses article details well, but 'reqnired' should be 'required' and 'out put' should be 'output'. Overall, content is accurate but phrasing needs work. Focus on spelling and proofreading.

(II), World Cup.
1. I think Belgium's offensive stars will break through
Because Belgiums' former performances are stunning:
4-1 to United States. And they have a "golden
generation" of talented players like Kevin De Bruyne,
Romelu Lukaku. There is no completely solid defense,
in the face of fierce attack.
2. I think the energy of fans will affect players
to some degree. Because we are all ordinary people
who seek praise and avoid criticizes. With fans booing
you, its natural to feel discouraged. But I also admit
that a strong heart and team spirit can over come this
    adversity.
3. At World Cup quarterfinals, unbeaten Spain meets
star-powered Belgium. Spain hasn't lost a single match this
year with their rock-solid defense, yet they hasn't scored
much either, which brings concerns. On the other hand,
Belgium, with stars like Charles, Romelu, and Kevin, is full
of morale. "We believe we can do it, We believe we can
pull off upset." said their coach. But with its injury concern
of midfielder Amadoa, the result of this match remains unpredictable.
Page 2 covers the World Cup article. The student correctly identifies Belgium's strengths (4-1 win, golden generation) and Spain's defensive record. However, 'Belgiums' should be 'Belgium's', 'criticizes' should be 'criticism', 'over come' should be 'overcome'. The preview is decent but 'hasn't scored much either' is slightly awkward; suggest 'hasn't scored many goals either'. 'Amadoa' is a misspelling of 'Amadou Onana'. Overall, good understanding but needs grammatical polish.

III. Chip Workers
1. I think It ISn't fair. and governments should
distribute some profits through taxes. Because all
occupations are important for the development of semiconductor
industry. So giving one job higher salary may raise social
conflicts and discouragement in other jobs like teachers.
2. I am a teacher and I am dismayed. I find
working hard meaningless compared to chipworkers' high bonus.
I want the government to distribute these profits through
taxes, making a fairer society.
3. As I received my bonus today, my hand trembled.
I immediately decided to eat out with my family today.
My parents could stop smiling at the restaurant, and
some friends who has lost touch for years contact me
on Wechat. While my old friends all Congratulate me.
After the big meal, we called a taxi to take us
home we used to walk home to save money, but
it doesn't matters now. I felt a mixture of joy and
sadness: joyful for my moreasing social status, but
sad at the sight of this souperficial society.
Page 3 covers the chip worker article. The student's opinion is clear and supported by article evidence about social conflict. 'ISn't' should be 'isn't', 'chipworkers' should be 'chip workers', 'doesn't matters' should be 'doesn't matter', 'moreasing' should be 'increasing', 'souperficial' should be 'superficial'. The story is engaging but has tense issues: 'could stop smiling' should be 'couldn't stop smiling', 'contact me' should be 'contacted me'. Focus on past tense consistency and spelling.

(IV) WNBA
1. I think they shouldn't. Because each players has her
own advantages, like Clank is a fast shooter, physical
conflict is essested to slow her down. Changing the rule
may break the goune's fairness.
2. It reveals that high-profile players' fame is a
double-edged-sword: It brings her support and defend
her against flagrant fouls. But also draws her attention
from focusing on the game itself. When officiating, money
and politics get mixed in a goume, the part of real
sportsmanship is missed. She can't be herself since
every single action was watched by thousands of fans.
3. I think I will regulate the exact degree a
flagrant foul is made, and give strict regulations
against it. There are fouls in the game: good ones
and bad ones, and nobody can avoid them. Clarks
controversy highlights the lack of precise regulation in
the game, so this is the part we'll revise in order
to keep the game foir.
Page 4 covers the WNBA article. The student makes a reasonable argument against rule changes, but 'Clank' should be 'Clark', 'essested' should be 'expected', 'goune' should be 'game', 'goume' should be 'game', 'foir' should be 'fair'. The second response shows good insight about fame being a double-edged sword. The third response is thoughtful but 'Clarks' needs an apostrophe. Overall, ideas are solid but spelling errors are frequent.

Read & Respond.
1. Anthropic use J-lense to monitor the words in LLMs
J-space, drawing new insight and understanding towards
it. But its shortage in only taking a glimpse at the
machine remain unsolved.
2. Unbeaten Spain meet star-powdered Belgium in
the ### World Cup quarter-finals. Both team has
adventarges and draw backs, and are determined to
win the game.
3. The high bonus for chip workers in South Korea
brings renovation in societal status but also raise conflicts.
4. WNBA player Clarks foul debate heats up with
fans arguing unfairness and factors like race, politics
get mixed in.
Word Bank:
foul Jone was booked a foul on the
goal keeper.
flagrant The mans violent behavior showed a
flagrant disregard for the law.
mundane. Initially, the work was pretty
mundane.
Page 5 contains the comprehension check and vocab builder. The comprehension answers are mostly accurate but have errors: 'J-lense' should be 'J-lens', 'shortage' should be 'shortcoming' or 'limitation', 'star-powdered' should be 'star-powered', 'adventarges' should be 'advantages', 'draw backs' should be 'drawbacks'. The vocab sentences are good but 'Jone' should be 'Jones', 'The mans' should be 'The man's'. Overall, the student understands the articles but needs to proofread carefully.
